OR: WHY SHOULD YOU OUTSOURCE SOME OF YOUR CORE STAFF

There are five main reasons:
1. Management can focus,
2. Costs are controlled,
3. Risks are reduced,
4. Reputational damage is limited,
5. Unburdened 24/7 operation.
ONE – MANAGEMENT FOCUS
In January 2019 we renamed our company Ethical AI Ltd, aiming to provide an AI platform so organisations like yours could develop and deliver cost-effective artificial intelligence systems using the latest technology. We have been moderately successful, but our best and happiest client is a data centre company for whom we provide a completely different service!
We supply, pay, and manage their night-time and weekend staff, thus freeing their management entirely (almost – emergencies being the exception) from concern and involvement outside normal business hours. This has meant management can focus entirely on their core requirements: growing business, keeping customers satisfied, and ensuring their rapid growth is supported by effective operations. The cost-benefits of this are hard to quantify but are certainly substantial. The client recently extended our contract for three more years and said they ‘could not grow at this rate otherwise.’
If your business runs 24/7 like theirs, you should consider the same ‘outsourced team’ approach. It takes the headache out of running 24/7, eliminating your need to recruit, support and manage staff who may be essential to your business, without needing to devote or rota management resources for non-core business hours. And it frees you and your management to focus on your key business drivers. This approach also applies to international operations because we can manage local teams in remote centres.
TWO - COST REDUCTION
We transferred our client’s pre-existing team to our company under TUPE regulations and added more of ours, at no extra charge. All these staff are now entirely dedicated to this client. The cost savings arise because:
(a) We guarantee to provide the necessary staff, so additional cover is not required,
(b) We fully manage their staff within guidelines agreed with our client, so no additional management overhead is required,
(c) We pay the staff directly, so the client only receives a single invoice from us, thus reducing their accounting overhead,
(d) We pay any recruitment costs when any staff member leaves, and
(e) We manage the entire recruitment and onboarding process, thus reducing their HR overhead.
THREE and FOUR – RISK REDUCTION and REPUTATIONAL DAMAGE LIMITATION
The main risk reductions arise because we become responsible for ensuring compliance with all legal requirements related to the staff’s employment. Provided your premises are safe and secure, we are responsible for the health and safety of our staff. The potential costs of such a failure can be considerable and may include a director’s liability.
We are also the employing party. Hence the costs and management time required to attend a tribunal hearing can be considerable. These are often not fully covered by an insurance policy. Worse still is the potential for reputational damage that a high-profile tribunal case could entail.
FIVE – EFFECTIVE 24/7 OPERATION
We guarantee that appropriate management is available during night-time and weekend hours to assist your team. Working closely with you, we ensure our staff are adequately trained. We will then help them deal with day-to-day and extraordinary circumstances as they arise, notifying you and your management only when the situation is resolved or when a truly exceptional event or emergency occurs. Together with you, we define these exceptions and emergencies and an escalation path.
